Mrs. Dimon - ESL
I am pleased to be an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher for Gateway School District. I have been employed by Gateway since the 1989-1990 school year and have worked in a variety of positions at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Currently, I am teaching ESL to students at Gateway High School and Gateway Middle School. Teaching ESL students gives me a great sense of accomplishment! They are so eager and determined to learn and succeed. It is rewarding for me as I help them to progress and achieve fluency in the English language and also to adjust and feel comfortable in our American culture.
I was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area. After graduating from Oakmont High School, I attended WestminsterCollege in New Wilmington, PA. I graduated with a double major in elementary education and English. Following my college graduation, I took numerous graduate courses in education and reading at ElmiraCollege and CanisiusCollege in New York. I recently completed taking eight ESL classes through the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit to receive my ESL certification and a master’s equivalency.
I am a member of TESOL, a professional organization for teachers. TESOL’s mission is to ensure excellence in English language teaching to speakers of other languages. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending family time with my husband Craig and my two daughters, Shawna and Lindsay, who are both successful Gateway graduates. My hobbies include reading, shopping, traveling, and cooking. Someday I would like to visit all the native countries of my ESL students!
