GMS: Student Council

Co-Sponsors: Mrs. Beresford and Ms. Antonucci

Each home room elects a representative to the council at the beginning of each school year. Representatives at large are chosen by teachers and elected representatives from students who present a petition signed by one hundred of their peers and five teachers. Student Council is responsible for all of the dances held at Gateway Middle School including the eighth grade dinner dance. Student Council also sponsors the holiday door decorating contest, the spirit days and various fund - raising activities. Selected students attend training classes and conventions sponsored by the Association of Student Council. All students who participate in these classes gain a knowledge of group government as well as developing organizational and leadership abilities.

Meetings are held each week.
