English Department

The Language Arts Program is based upon a core curriculum (grades 9-10-11) that utilizes ability grouping for course placements. An elective format is available to all seniors and also with limited availability to juniors and sophomores. The purpose of the English Program is to provide courses that concentrate on the major area of English language and literature with emphasis on the basic fundamentals of reading, the process of writing and speech. Senior students must select courses that maintain a balance between skills and literature courses. The recommendation of your current (Second Semester) English teacher is required for course selection approval.
