Reading Department

The Reading Program at Gateway Senior High School is primarily intended to meet the basic reading needs of students reading well below grade level. Classes are remedial but also provide students with basic study strategies. Students are evaluated through the use of standardized tests, teacher observation, conferences, and student self-evaluations. In addition to attempting to improve the students' reading and learning skills, the courses are designed to help develop confidence and a positive attitude toward learning.
