The responsibilities and duties of the School Social Worker/Home & School Visitor are those prescribed by the Public School Code of 1949, the Department of Education, and the GatewayAreaSchool District. The School Social Worker/Home & School Visitor will be expected to coordinate all the activities that relate to school attendance and truancy. The School Social Worker/Home & School Visitor will establish and maintain close internal contact with students, regular and special education teachers, master teacher, counselors, psychologist and administrative staff. In addition I will act as an intermediary between home and school in verifying residence, verifying home education activities, and linking parents with the appropriate agencies as needed.
