Field Observations for College Students

Gateway School District is happy to support the training of future teachers.  In this regard, we will attempt to facilitate the completion of field observations for those students enrolled formally in teacher-training programs, assuming interested students satisfy the following requirements at least 2 weeks in advance of the anticipated visit:

1. Interested college/university students must contact Mrs. Alice Wilkes at 412-373-5700 to seek preliminary approval and to discuss college/university expectations, including but not limited to required length of visit and  level of field observer participation.
2.  Interested college/university students must email (Email awilkes at Gateway) or FAX (412-858-1066) to Mrs. Wilkes evidence of school enrollment that includes a reference to mandatory field observations.  Such evidence may include a signed letter from the related course instructor and/or a copy of the related course syllabus.

Please be mindful all field observers MUST be supervised by Gateway School District teachers at all times, and NO visits will be hosted on planned assessment dates.  Additionally, Building Principals may restrict visits further in an attempt to limit disruptions to other planned activities.
