MSM: ESL:
Hola! Bonjour! Ciao!
I am the English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher in our new Language Learning Center for students in first through sixth grade. As an ESL teacher, I work with students whose first language is not English.
My career began locally at East Allegheny High School, teaching French as a Pennsylvania certified teacher with a Master's Degree. After raising my children, I taught ESL to Vietnam refugees and immigrant adults through the Allegheny County Center of Pittsburgh. Before teaching at Gateway, I taught ESL at Franklin Regional to students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. At Gateway, I began at University Park and have worked in every building in the district.
My twenty two years of experience include English Language Learners from ages 5-75, over fifty countries, who have spoken over forty languages. Every year I update my knowledge and skills with courses on diversity, program development and linguistics in the ESL area. I recently attended the international TESOL Convention (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages).
