Dear Gateway Families,
As part of the Gateway School District’s Comprehensive Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Pandemic Health & Safety Reopening Plan, I would like to update our constituents on our progress to date. Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Dennis Chakey has been named Pandemic Coordinator and will lead a group of stakeholders through two upcoming Health & Safety meetings planned for July 14th and July 16th, 2020. In order to share our planning efforts with Gateway families, we will be recording the two scheduled committee meetings and posting them to the district website after their conclusion. This will allow all interested families to view and listen to the information and send questions or comments to the committee via an email link. Employing such an all encompassing process that seeks to gather feedback from a steering committee and the greater Gateway School District community ensures that the Health & Safety plan is well vetted and incorporates feedback from multiple individuals. The final plan will be presented at the July 21, 2020 School Board Meeting.

In addition, on June 20, 2020, Gateway School District administered a survey to our families that focused on reopening scenarios. This survey will assist the district in strategically planning a safe and meaningful instructional learning environment, regardless of which color-coded phase Pennsylvania is under. Listed below are the results of the survey.
Respectfully,
William Short, Ed. D.
Superintendent of Schools
