"In a growth mindset, people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment."
Mr. Troy Ulewicz
Interim Assistant Principal
Hello MSMS families! I would like to welcome all students and families back to MSMS for the 2020-21 school year. On behalf of myself, teachers and staff, we would like to welcome you to our school page. Moss Side Middle School is the first school in which all of the students in the district come together to form the learning community they will be part of until graduation. Throughout their educational journey at MSMS students gradually take steps that will prepare them for Gateway Middle School and Gateway High School.
At MSMS, we believe in a growth mindset is essential for everyone to learn to meet and overcome challenges that confront us. We believe that everyone learns best by learning through mistakes, and "falling forward". Embedded in this approach, is the notion that effort may ultimately determine when you reach your goals and provides a framework for success to accomplish personal goals throughout our lives.
In our school, fifth and sixth-grade students have the opportunity to have a core team of teachers in ELA, math, science, and social studies. While at Moss Side, students will be afforded opportunities to grow and develop successful relationships with their teachers and fellow peers. It is our hope that students in fifth and sixth grade develop the necessary skills needed to transition to the next levels in their education and grow to become college and career ready in our 21st century learning communities.
Thanks again for visiting our site!
