Important Update: Remote Learning Days, January 29 & 30, 2026

Dear Families,
We are writing to provide an update for the remainder of the school week. Due to the continued impact of the recent winter storm and the prolonged period of extreme cold, Thursday, January 29, and Friday, January 30, will be remote learning days for all students.

While we always prefer to have our students in the classroom, several factors have made this decision necessary:

  • Although major roads are being maintained, some secondary streets and neighborhood roads remain compromised by ice and packed snow, making bus transportation and pedestrian activity unsafe.
  • We are also mindful of the broader community impact, including Pitcairn’s recent declaration of a state of emergency. This official measure highlights the severity of the current conditions and will allow crews to work to restore safe access.
  • Forecasted temperatures remain a key concern.

Your child’s school will send a follow-up with specific instructions for both Thursday’s and Friday’s lessons.

Through our original school calendar, the district maintains the state-mandated number of instructional days and hours; therefore, no additional makeup days will be added to the calendar at this time.

We recognize that a full week of remote instruction creates significant hurdles for our families. We appreciate your continued patience and flexibility as we prioritize the safety of our students and staff. We are hopeful that the weekend will allow for a full recovery of road conditions, and we look forward to seeing everyone back in person on Monday.
