The Gateway School District is seeking a Special Education Long-Term Substitute Teacher from September through January 16 (guaranteed). Experience with students with intellectual disabilities, social/emotiona needs, or on the Autism spectrum preferred.

- Graduation from high school or GED, preferably supplemented by business school training or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Background and experience in basic accounting operations as deemed necessary by the Ditrict
- Experience in general office and clerical work
- Working knowledge of office programs, polices, and operations preferred
- Ability to deal effectively and courteously with associates and the general public
- Typing skills - minimum 60 words per minute

- Assist with daily counter responsibilities for staff, students, and community
- Screen all phone calls, limiting the number that go directly to voicemail; refer calls to appropriate personnel
- Distribute U.S. mail and packages daily, and inter-school mail
- Maintain and update faculty mailboxes and keys
- Assign and maintain locker assignments and schedule all needed repairs and maintenance on same
- Prepare new lesson plan folders for beginning of year to include fire drill information, emergency response plan book, floor plans, bell schedules, seating charts, other information pertinent to duties of substitute teachers.
- Announce updated information and student call downs between periods and as directed by principals
- Contact security, custodians, school resource officer when needed.
- Assist with early dismissals throughout the day
- Responsible for issuing work permits for students living in Monroeville or Pitcairn
- Issue parking permits for grades 11 & 12
- After alternative busing has been arranged through Transportation for Forbes Roads students when Gateway or Forbes is not in session, make copies and distribute to students
- Maintain files for four grade levels
- Maintain files, complete attendance waivers, complete and mail urgent warning letters, disciplinary records, failure notices, and detention obligation letters for four grade levels
- Send out correspondence regarding IEP meetings and IS suspension students' names to teachers
- Create, track, and verify all student detentions for all grade levels
- Assist in the collection of school work from teachers for students assigned to in-school suspension, out-of-school suspension, and extended absences
- Track and maintain confiscated items
- Complete daily attendance when other two front secretaries are out
- Assist in typing all general information, class procedures, directions, due dates, etc. for staff members and all other materials which are often confidential matters between the district and staff
- Assist with preparing materials for after school activities as assigned
- Prepare and organize 9t grade orientation and Right Start Program
- Help distribute yearbooks to students and alumni
- Assist with any special project as needed
- Year-end closeout
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor(s)

- Help maintain the SMS with regards to charter/cyber enrollments, securing withdrawal notifications from the charter/cyber schools
- Coordinate specialized transportation as directed by the Director of Pupil Services and/or Supervisor of Special Education, including billing/invoicing other LEA when appropriate
- Assist with student registration - including, but not limited to following up and securing missing registration materials, and helping to process Multiple Occupancies and Affidavits (e.g. renewals)

- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals; must have the ability to write routine reports, correspondence, and to speak effectively before parents, staff, and students
- Computer Skills: Demonstrate proficiency with IBM-based or MAC based personal computers and programs such as Windows, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, database, and presentation programs
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; must have the ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; Ability to deal with multiple problems

- Has knowledge of existing system, as well as state and league regulations, interprets them for staff, and ensures their consistent implementation.
- Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers all requests or grievances through proper channels. Is aware of all public/staff/departmental meetings that require attendance.
- Provides training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport to each athlete who is considered a participant.
- Gives constant attention to a student athlete’s grades and conduct.
- Provides assistance, guidance, and safeguards for each participant by his/her presence at all practices, games and while traveling.
- Initiates programs and policies concerning injuries, medical attention and emergencies.
- Completes paperwork on all disabling athletic injuries on proper forms and submits to athletic office within 24 hours.
- Directs student managers, assistants and statisticians.
- Determines discipline, delineates procedures concerning due process when the enforcement of discipline is necessary and contacts parents when a student is dropped or becomes ineligible.
- Assists athletes in their college or advanced educational selection.
- Participates in the budgeting function with the Athletic Director by recommending equipment guidelines as to type, style, color, or technical specification. Is responsible for operating within budget appropriations.
- Is accountable for all equipment and collects the cost of any equipment lost or not returned. Arranges for issuing, storing and reconditioning of equipment and submits annual inventory and current records concerning same.
