The Gateway School District is seeking a Special Education Long-Term Substitute Teacher from September through January 16 (guaranteed). Experience with students with intellectual disabilities, social/emotiona needs, or on the Autism spectrum preferred.

- Associate's degree with related training and/or experience; Bachelor's degree preferred
- Must have strong background and experience in bookkeeping and accounting operations as deemed necessary by the LEA for general accounting duties to include, but not limited to: cash receipts, cash disbursements, bank reconciliations
- Experience in general office and clerical work; working knowledge of office programs, policies, and operations preferred
- Possess a keen attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary
- Excellent integrity and good moral character
- Ability to work cooperatively in an office setting and be a team player
- Possess the interpersonal skills to relate well with administrators, co-workers, district staff, and community members (including parents and students), especially during difficult and emotional situations

- Required Clearances: Current Act 34 Criminal History Record (PA State Police), Act 114 Federal Crime History (FBI Fingerprinting), and Act 151 Child Abuse History
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
- Responsible for the procurement of the needed supplies, equipment, etc. for the District (bidding process - typing all forms; obtain quotes, bids and specifications; and open bids)
- Assist with the implementation and setup of all digital purchase order process
- Enter and process purchase orders within the District and properly distribute to all locations
- Match completed purchase orders with invoices
- Check invoices against purchase orders for errors and completion
- Enter batches of invoices
- Works with the Accounts Payable and Secretary to the Business Office in printing checks and maintaining check register
- Assist in the processing of the district-wide nurse's end of year report for the state
- Responsible for the annual school bidding process for paper, supplies, equipment, and services
- Assist in budget preparation
- Maintain accurate records of all purchase orders and invoices for all specification accounts
- Schedule district-wide shredding
- Maintain end of month account reports for entire District for over expenditures
- Coordinate the student financial obligations with the buildings and update in the District's business management system
- Coordinate with the Facilities & Transportation Secretary, Pupil Service Secretary, and Athletics Secretary to process all transportation invoices
- Performs all duties relating to the scheduling and billing for all facilities of the District for all scheduled athletic events and practices and all activities, including rentals
- Works cooperatively, and cross trains with the Accounts Payable and Secretary to the Business Office
- Other duties and responsibilities which pertain to the daily operations of the Business Office as assigned by the Business Manager or the Assistant Business Manager
- Process and maintain all budgetary transfers
- Post June accounting accruals
- Back up for Accounts Payable and Secretary to the Business Office, as needed
- Retrieve information for the auditors
- Cover Central's main office desk, as needed
- Open interoffice and postal mail; date stamp incoming mail; process outside mail; maintain postage machine-funds-postage by phone, all supplies
- Assist the Business Manager in the preparation for the annual audit
- Confidentiality: Respect and maintain the highest degree of confidentiality with regard to personnel and student records, personal communication from members of the community, School Board, and staff.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. Must have the ability to write routine reports, correspondence, and to speak effectively before parents, staff, and students.
- Computer Skills: Demonstrate proficiency with IBM-based or MAC based personal computers and programs, such as Google Suite, Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must have the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percent.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with multiple problems.
- Ability to operate a variety of office machines.
- Must be able to type a minimum of 60 words per minute
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
- Patience in dealing with staff, parents, and students.

- Program Development
	- Collaborate with the Band Director to set goals, select repertoire, and design the winter percussion show
- Develop a season calendar including rehearsals, camps, performances, and competitions
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and educational environment for all students
 
- Instruction & Rehearsals
	- Lead and manage all winter percussion rehearsals, including both battery and front ensemble sections
- Instruct students in percussion techqniques, music performance, and visual execution
- Montior student progress and provide regular feedback to support indivdual and ensemble growth
 
- Staff Coordinator
	- Recruit, manage, and coordinate instructional staff and clinicians as approved by the Band Director
- Conduct regular staff meetings to ensure consistency in instruction and show development
 
- Logistics & Administration
	- Work with the Band Director and booster organization to manage budet, equipment needs, and travel logistics
- Ensure all music, drill, and design materials are prepared and distributed in a timely manner
- Enforce ensemble policies related to attendance, conduct, and rehearsal etiquette
 
- Communication
	- Maintain regular communication with the Band Director regarding program progress, student concerns, and logistical needs
- Serve as a primary point of contact for students and parents regarding ensemble-related matters, while keeping the Band Director informed.
 
- Demonstrated experience teaching and leading percussion ensembles, preferably in an indoor (WGI-Style) setting
- Strong knowledge of percussion pedagogy, marching techniques, and indoor show design
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and administration
- Strong organization and communication skills
- Background in music education or equivalent professional experience preferred
- Availability to attend all rehearsals, camps, and competitions during the winter season
- Experience with arranging, composing, or coordinating the show desing elements (music, drill, choreography)
- Familiarity with WGI, local circuits (e.g., SPCA, WGI Sport of the Arts), and adjudication standards
- Leadership experience with student performers and peer staff members

- Assist in implementing the show design and ensure consistency in instruction across all sections
- Help coordinate rehearsal logistics, warm-ups, and performance-day operations
 
- Rehearsal & Performance Management
	- Supervise rehearsals and student activities to ensure a safe, productive environment
- Support the setup and teardown of equipment for rehearsals and performances
- Attend all competitions, performances, and major events as scheduled
 
- Communication & Leadership
	- Maintain professional and open communication with students, parents, staff, and the Band Director
- Assist in enforcing attendance, behavior, and participation policies
- Provicde feedback to students and Ensemble Director to improve performance and group cohesion
 
- Experience performing with or instruction a percussion ensemble, preferably in a marching or indoor setting
- Strong knowledge of percussion pedagogy, technique, and ensemble performance
- Ability to work collaboratively with instructional staff, students, and administration
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Availability for regular evening and weekend rehearsals, camps, and competitions
- Prior teaching or instructional staff experience in a marching band or indoor percussion program
- Familiarity with WGI standards and show design processes
- Ability to read music and contribute to arranging, if needed
- Experience with equipment maintenance and logistics coordination

- Creative Direction & Program Planning
	- Collaborate with the Band Director to develop a competitive and engaging winter guard production
- Oversee the design of choreography, staging, costuming, and equipment work in alignment with the chosen theme and competitive goals
- Coordinate with design staff, choreographers, and other creative personnel as needed
 
- Instruction & Rehearsal Management
	- Plan and lead all rehearsals, including technique blocks and show rehearsals
- Provide direct instruction in dance, flag, rifle, and sabre techniques appropriate to all skill levels

- Student Development & Supervision
	- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to support individual and group improvement

	- Recruit, schedule, and supervise instructional staff and consultants, with approval from the Band Director
- Maintain clear and timely communication with students, staff, and parents regarding schedules, expectations, and events
- Serve as liason between the winter guard and the Band Director, keeping them informed on all aspects of the program
 
- Logistics & Administration
	- Assist the Band Director and booster organization with managing the winter guard budget, including equipment, costumes, and travel expenses
- Organize and oversee auditions, camps, rehearsals, and performance logistics
- Ensure all equipment, props, and materials are maintained and performance-ready
 
- Experience teaching and directing color guard, preferably in a winter guard or WGI-style setting
- Strong understanding of movement, equipment choreography, and show deisgn
- Effective leadership and communication skills with both students and staff
- Ability to manage a team and collaborate within a larger band program structure
- Background in dance, color guard, or performing arts education preferred
- Availability to attend all rehearsals, competitions, and staff planning meetings throughout the season
- Knowledge of WGI and local winter guard circuits, adjudication criteria, and competition logistics
- Experience with show design, including music coordination, costuming, and staging
- Familiarity with budgeting, logistics planning, and student leadership development

- Dependable, organized, and committed to supporting the vision of the program
- Availability for all rehearsals, events, and competitions during the winter season
- Prior instructional or assistant teaching experience in a color guard program
- Familiarity with winter guard compeition circuits (WGI, local circuits) and judging criteria
- Choreography experience or ability to asist with creative design elements
- Basic knowledge of costume, prop, and floor design helpful
