Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training

Act 126 requires professional development for all school entities in four specific areas:

  • Signs of child abuse & human trafficking
  • Law Provisions for Child Abuse & Reporting
  • The PA Educator Misconduct Act
  • Maintaining professional relationships with students and sexual misconduct

All employees of a school district who have direct contact, or who may have direct contact with children must go through the Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training.  The Act 126 training must be a minimum of three hours, and cover all required topics.  The intent of this training requirement is to protect the children of Pennsylvania by ensuring that all those working with them understand how to recognize and report suspected child abuse.

Gateway School District provides Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training through Vector Training Solutions, whose program has been approved by PDE to meet all necessary requirements.  New employees will be assigned this training as a part of their onboarding.  If you have questions regarding how to access the Vector PA 126 Mandated Reporter training courses, please reach out to the Human Resource Office at 412-373-5713, or email rsalerno@gatewayk12.org.
